Rosarito could consolidate itself as a tourist destination with the arrival of Tianguis Turístico 2025

Both tourist and gastronomic industries, and many more, will benefit thanks to this event

With the announcement by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués that the 49th edition of Tianguis Turístico will take place in Baja California in 2025, CANIRAC revealed that Playas de Rosarito has the possibility of consolidating itself as a tourist destination.

It should be noted that this decision took place after the event's committee analyzed and evaluated the proposals of 3 destinations that were looking to welcome the most important tourism fair in Latin America. Among them there were Nuevo Leon, Puebla, and Baja California, and the last one was the one that was chosen.

The President of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) of Playas de Rosarito, Alan Bautista Plascencia, congratulated the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and the Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, for their leadership and having achieved such an important designation for our state.

He also said that this is the most important opportunity that Playas de Rosarito has had in its history to consolidate itself as a destination and, as such, make itself known as an internationally renowned destination not only in the United States (which has historically been the market that has visited it the most) but in Latin America, Asia, and even Europe. Most of Tianguis Turístico will take place at the Baja California Center located in Playas de Rosarito which is only a few minutes away from tourist center of Rosarito, its restaurants, hotels, and beach.

This is the most important tourist event in Latin America, where we welcome not only international buyers, tour operators, wholesalers, travel agents, and media outlets, but also investors and leaders of the main hotel chains and tourist companies in the world. This is a unique, never before seen opportunity, maybe since the filming of the movie Titanic in 1996 in Rosarito, that will allow for investments opportunities and treasures to be discovered here. This will leave a lot of economic revenue and job creation in hotels, restaurants, tourist transportation, handicraft markets, among others.

For the gastronomic industry, this is a great opportunity to highlight the best of local gastronomy, wines, and craft beer, among others. And they are already working on a special route so that visitors discover the best restaurants of the area.

However, according to the president of CANIRAC, the current municipal administration of Playas de Rosarito, and the upcoming Administration and Municipal President that will take office at the end of year, will have a lot of work to do to make this a safe, clean, and presentable city for international visitors and citizens.

This is because, sadly, the security issue on tourism, cleaning of roads, gardening, road signs, and everything regarding mobility and accesses from Tijuana have been neglected. Though these road projects will help with traffic, they will need to be sped up and coordinated together with state and municipal authorities to showcase a proper region. "It is our great opportunity to reveal ourselves to the world and consolidate ourselves as a tourist destination, but we, as a society and government, have to get down to work because there's not a lot of time left."

Lastly, he reaffirmed the commitment of the Chamber and Rosarito's restaurant owners to help state and municipal authorities and the tourist sector in order to have a successful event so that it creates unprecedented impact for the upcoming years. This way it will attract more tourism and will generate important economic revenue and job creation to benefit Rosarito natives.
